Kinky Boots
Summer 2025
From July 15 to August 3, 2025, I had the incredible honour of stepping into the heels of Lola in the award-winning musical Kinky Boots. Over the course of 15 completely sold-out shows, our cast brought this vibrant, heart-filled story to life and every night felt like a celebration of courage, authenticity, and joy.
Portraying Lola was more than a role; it was an experience that transformed me as both a performer and a person. The journey demanded everything: voice, soul, vulnerability, and fierce energy, and in return, it gave me connection, community, and moments I’ll carry forever.
The response was beyond anything I could have imagined. Audiences leapt to their feet night after night, and the Parksville Qualicum Beach News captured it best:
“Banker by day, performer by night, Omabuwa Dede commands the stage with mesmerizing musical performances as Lola, in outrageously ostentatious drag.”
Each show reminded me why I love storytelling because when you bring truth and music together, something extraordinary happens.
